Anne Chabot

Anne Chabot has over 20 years professional experience, with the last fifteen years at FOCUS GROUP as a Senior Communications Specialist.  Ms. Chabot provides communications expertise to clients in industry, government and academia. She develops strategic communications programs and produces informational materials appropriate for targeted audiences. Her strength lies in interpreting complex and technical information, and effectively conveying key messages in easy-to-understand and visually appealing ways.

Ms. Chabot currently works on community outreach efforts related to the Santa Susana Field Laboratory environmental cleanup project in California.  She was instrumental in establishing the environmental cleanup Website and introducing a printed newsletter, which is now online.  She distills regulatory, legal and technical information and oversees art direction to produce displays used at public meetings and special events.  Anne also works with the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory groundwater cleanup project in California. For a number of years, she worked closely with the NASA Glenn Research Center and has developed fact sheets, display boards, newsletters, PowerPoint presentations and a Website to share information with the public about decommissioning the nuclear testing facility at Plum Brook Station in Sandusky, Ohio. She has issued press releases and media invitations to community events, as well as produced materials used at tours, open houses, Community Information Sessions, Community Workgroup meetings, and other special events. 

Ms. Chabot has done similar work for other clients including:  NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, NASA Headquarters, NASA Langley Space Center, NASA White Sands Test Facility, Textron, Rocketdyne, Kraft Foods, Chem Nuclear, and Wellesley College.

For 8 years prior to joining FOCUS GROUP, Ms. Chabot was Manager of Education and Outreach at the Center for Environmental Management at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts. As Manager of Education and Outreach, she was responsible for designing, marketing, and administering continuing education programs for practicing environmental professionals. She also oversaw the annual Tufts University Environmental Management Institute that provided graduate-level applied knowledge in environmental policy, planning and technology. She designed and developed the Massachusetts Department of Public Health-accredited lead based paint inspector training course and the first Massachusetts Division of Labor and Industries-accredited lead-based paint abatement training curriculum. She was co-principal investigator in collaboration with the New England Waste Management Officials Association (NEWMOA), of three grants that designed and administered pollution prevention training programs for technical and regulatory staff in New England, New York and New Jersey.

Ms. Chabot is a past member of the Society for Risk Analysis and presented a paper entitled: “Communication of Epidemiologic Information: A Case Study” in 1995. She has been a member of the Environmental Business Council (Boston), the Northeast Hazardous Substance Research Center Training and Technology Transfer Advisory Committee, and the EPA National Advisory Council on Environmental Policy and Technology Education and Training Committee.

Ms. Chabot received her graduate degree in environmental health from Tufts University, and her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Boston College.
